About

This blog is for conservatives like me, who are critical thinkers and don’t want to be made into anyone’s cheerleader. This blog does not endorse any candidates or parties. It’s only purpose is to stimulate critical thinking about issues that should concern conservatives.

As such:

- This blog will attempt to avoid using hot button lingo in a way that pigeonholes the conversation.

- This blog will take on all candidates and issues critically, no matter who they are.

- This blog will be especially critical of conservatives, as it is important to keep our fellow conservatives accountable to their own values.

- This blog will be even more critical of conservatives who claim to stand for religious values when their policies or behavior seem to demonstrate that they are being disingenuous.

- Iconoclasm is part of the point. Once a political leader is considered beyond criticism, he or she is beyond being held accountable, and this is a hallmark of tyranny, not democracy.

- If a reader is offended by the content on this blog, deal with it. Causing a clean sort of offense is one of the fundamental tools to get people to think critically about their own positions. It’s healthy not to toe the party line if the party line appears to be idiotic, harmful, or hypocritical.

- Hypocrisy, blatant ignorance, and demonstratedly poor policy will be the primary targets of this blog.

- For now, the comment feature on this blog is generally disabled.

- For individual posts for which the comment feature is turned on, comments are monitored by an administrator. Offensive comments, comments that amount to someone merely spouting off without backing up the expressed opinions with objective sources, comments that hijack a thread for someone else’s soap box (get your own blog…), and comments that are basically sniping — such comments will never under any circumstances be approved.

- Personal attacks will not take place on this blog unless they concern a public figure who is demonstratedly acting hypocritically. If this appears to be the case, any criticisms are to be backed up with objective evidence. This goes both for comments and for posts.

- The more objective and informative a  comment and the more relevant to the discussion at hand, the more likely it is to be approved.

- Links to other blogs or articles are for informative purposes only and do not necessarily imply an endorsement of the linked-to blog or article.
